    Conditional Formating

    Hello!

In advance, thanks for your time.

I was hoping you could help me as im not the best in excel.

What I am trying to do is use conditional formating to change the colour of a cell based on any word. Is there a command for any word? I am able to do it if there is just one word but the cell im talking about can be anything.

Please tell me if you need clarification.

    Thanks again!

    Tom

    =ISTEXT(A1)

    format--colour

Hi Tom. Welcome to the forum.

Did you try using ISTEXT function?

Something like this in Conditional Formating rules?

    =ISTEXT(a1)

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your time.

Ill read you through my excel as it doesnt seem to be working. Lets call the cell in question cell A. I have two drop down lists that if one of the options on either is selected it will make cell A go orange. Once it is orange I want to make it go blank if someone types in it. While if noone types in it, it stays orange. Does this clarify? Or is what you two suggested right with me just doing it wrong.

    Cheers,
    Tom

2 drop down lists in the same cell?

Which is the condition to make the cell filled with Orange color?

Can you upload a sample workbook?

Here you go. If you go to the drop down menus and select other. The comment section will go orange. I want to know how, if you type in the comments section while its orange, to make it go white. Example.xlsx

    did the attachment work?
