Need To Add time in Column up to 24hr then roll over the date

    All,

This is my first post on here,

I am trying to add a time (in H.hh) column M, to a date in column C. It seems to work adding the time up until it passes midnight, then it doesn't roll over the day.

I am using the formula "-C5+TIME(M6,0,0)". Is there a better one to use?

    Thanks,
    J

have you tried to just add them together...=C5+M6?

Remember, excel treats time as a fraction/decimal of 1 (day), so 12:00 mid-day is actually 0.5

    Ummm (#2 today ).... =C5+M6/24

M6 value is in hours, not days.

yes exactly, so it will add a fraction of a day, to the day. My suggestion stands, try it

Re: Need To Add time in Column up to 24hr then roll over the date

    Stands as in...???

    =C5+M6

    ...or...

    =C5+M6/24

If column M is simply a number in h.hh format (i.e. decimal hours to hundredths place), he'll have to divide it by 24 (hrs/day) to make it a fraction of a day. Otherwise, to quote Spock from Star Trek's the Wrath of Kahn, in parody, "Admiral, if we go "by the book", like Lieutenant Saavik, hours could seem like days."
