    Function confusion

    Hi,

Still discovering all of the things you can do with excel, and could use some help!

I have two columns- one (column A) with the first two letters of different repeating postcodes, and the second column (B) containing '1', '2', '3' which refers to 'correct', 'incorrect' and 'didn't answer' in that order.

What I want to do is theoretically pretty simple:

If column A contains postcode 'AB' and column B contains '1' then count.

    So:

    Column A Column B
    AB 1
    BS 1
    AB 2
    CA 2
    CD 1
    AB 1
    AB 3
    AB 1
    BS 1
    BS 2
    CA 3
    AB 1

Would be transferred into a separate table with the list of all possible postcodes as:
    AB 4
    BS 2
    CA 0
    CD 1

Any and all help is very much appreciated!

    Hi
You can use a Pivot Table, using col A as row field, column B as column field and as Data field, then filter the column fields value to 1
