Build chart displaying start date and end date

OK, This is my firtst post of what will likely be many, so please bear with me. I am no Excel Wizard. Here goes my best description of my problem.

I have a chart that has a row across the top with a date entry for each day
the next row underneath that has an entry for hours spent performing a task on the corresponding day
The bottom row is for the value of the work achieved that day.

What I am wanting to do is use a formula that will input the start date, and end dates for the work, but in seperate cells. Start date in one cell end date in another cell. Can Someone steer me in theright direction on this?

I believe I have uploaded it correctly, and you should find it attached here. If you need to contact me quicker, you can use my email address craig . bowlin @ NOV . com. Obviously, you will need to back out the spaces.

Okay... so what you need to calculate between those two days ? Is it Drilling hours / days or what ? thanks.

I don't think you need an Excel Chart .. correct?

Re: Build chart displaying start date and end date

That's correct. at the bottom of the sheet there is the boxes labelled "Depth" and "Dates". I would like to find a way to have the formula pick this information from the cells above for each section. (if Possible, as I realize that it may not work) For the depths, I think that I will have to manually enter the starting depths, as those are a bit unclear. The start point is not always the end of the previous section. The end depths are easy enough to capture. The trick is getting the date that drilling started and the date that drilling ended to come into the "dates" section.
