    formula in cell

    Hi Everyone

I am trying to make calculations based on what is selected in a drop down box. If the drop down box says "In" in the In/Out column then I would like the value in the clv column to be added up in the total (in) at the bottom. If it says "Out" in the In/Out column then I would like it to be added to the Total (Out) at the bottom.

    Spreadsheet attached

    thanks

    mike

    Hi, mike,

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

    Re: formula in cell

    Hi, mike,

sorry about the delay in answering from my side. Maybe "Sums for specified items" might have been an alternative for the thread title.

    Formula for H37:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    For H38
Please Login or Register to view this content.
When using your example there will be a difference of 600 in the addition between both sums with the total, you would need to check the DV for this in the upper cells (I12 to I15).

    Ciao,
    Holger

    Hi Holger

    That is brilliant.

Thank you for your help! It is much appreciated. I will try to place more appropriate titles in the subject box moving forward.

    Mike
