    Lognormal Distribution

I have three observations from an assumed lognormal distribution with a mean of .5 and I need to find the coefficient of variation. The observations are .4, .5 and .7. Can I use Solver to get a good approximation of the best fitting lognormal and hence an estimate of the CV?

    Re: Lognormal Distribution

I have no idea what CV you're talking about, but it may be easiest to graph the data and add a trend line. You can display the equation on the chart. The function LOGEST gives statistics of an exponential curve, which may also help. Solver can only find a variable if you have other cells that are dependent on the variable and want to solve for a specific value in one of the cells.
