    Traffic light Formula not working

    Im trying to generate a formula in Excel 2007 that will allow me to implement a 'traffic light' system for dates on a training document at work. I need to have the cells that contain dates in the following parameters: -
    less than 9 months old stay green,
    9-12 months go yellow,
    12+ go red.
    I am aware of the now function, but is there an easier way as currently I have to add 3 layers per column in conditional formatting.

    I hope there is!

    Thanks in advance..............

    Re: Traffic light Formula not working

    Im using NOW function and minusing days and adding format to highlight cell.

    i.e =now()-180 then choosing colour.

    Is there something I can use which will save me having to put three layers on per column?

    Re: Traffic light Formula not working

    For 3 colors you need 3 formula's
    Each formula can do several columns
    For your whole sheet you need only 3 formulas
    Maybe een xls file will help

    Hi TonydeBurgh

    It is not clear whether you are using conditional formatting?

    As popipipo says, if you post a sample of what you have, people will be able to see if they can suggest something better.
