Drop Down Menu / Strikethrough Query

Apologies if this sort of thing has already been asked, but I had a quick flick through parts of the forum and it doesn't appear to have been in this particular way.

I've attached the sheet in question. The sheet is a Premier League football table prediction competition, in which contestants will use the drop down menus to select teams in the order that they think they will finish in the Premier League next season.

Is there a way to have the team in the left hand 'Teams' box struck through when it is selected in the drop down menu in the right hand 'Barclays Premier League Table' box? The idea obviously being that teams are crossed off as and when you pick them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

With cell D9 the active cell, go to Conditional FormattingNew RuleUse a formula to determine which cells to format and type this in the Format values where this formula is true: box:

    =MATCH(D9,$K$9:$K$28,0)

then click on Format and on the Font tab check the box next to Strikethrough
    .
You can then copy this Conditional Formatting to other cells as necessary.

    This is one way.........

Re: Drop Down Menu / Strikethrough Query

Thanks again for the above help.

On the same sheet, is there a way to format the drop down menus so that when a selection is made, it is no longer available in the other drop down menus? The idea being that, through limiting the selections as they are picked, the same team cannot be picked twice.

    Cheers.
