Sorting Rows by Value in a column

Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie to this so any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to get a number of rows to sort in order by a value (%) in a column which I can do by going sort/custom sort Column E/Values/Highest to lowest,that works but the display in the column is changed to #Ref!, #Value! or 0.00% can you tell me what I am doing wrong please.

Presumably you have formulae which are giving you those values to sort. When you move them to a different location (through sorting) the formulae are still active and so will try to return a result based on the new location (and the location of any cells that are referenced within the formula that have also moved).

You should fix the values before doing the sort - select all the cells with formulae in, click <copy>, then right-click and choose Paste Special, then click against Values and OK then press the <Esc> key. then you will be able to do the sorting without getting those errors.

Thanks Pete, That does help but I wanted the list to be updated as I entered further data but your method does mean I can sort the list at the end of every month which is good.

Hi again, I know i'm not the brightest but when I copy special these values to different cells I still find the original formula changes for some reason that I can't get my head around.
