    Counting ONLY business days

    Hi

I have been given a project that involves filtering items that have taken more than 5 business days out (so we are left with just the items that have taken 5 days and less to close out). Is there an easy way to filter out weekends from this count? So that if an item takes 7 days to close out, but 2 of those days are a Saturday and a Sunday then it still gives the total as 5 days.

The problem is that each month has different dates for weekends and the items come in on different days throughout the month.

The raw data will have a column with a start date and a column with an end date (both in form: dd/mm/yyyy).

Please help as this is urgent.

    Thanks

    Re: Counting ONLY business days

hi stevop622. it's always good you can provide a sample Excel file showing the desired answers you require. my guess is if Start Date in A2 & End Date in B2, then in C2:
    =NETWORKDAYS(A2,B2)

you could even add a list of holidays in the 3rd argument. for eg. if you have a list of
    =NETWORKDAYS(A2,B2,$G$1:$G$10)

then just filter column C to be lesser than 6

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

    Re: Counting ONLY business days

This formula only seems to work if the formatting of the dates in A and B are yyyy/mm/dd. the dates in my data are all dd/mm/yy. When i run it like this it counts the days as years, so from 01/01(jan)/13 to 05/01/13 becomes 1044 days, instead on 5. any ideas?
