    Question an IF formula possibility?

I have been searching in here for a certian formula but I cannot seem to be able to find it so I am sorry if this has been asked before.

I am trying to create a formula that cancels each other out.. I know, im not making sense so bear with me.

lets say i have 15 apples in column A
I also have 15 apples in column m

I want to have a formula that I can tell it to erase both spots if they match (ie. if a1=am then erase)

    Re: the missing link....

You can't do that using formulas.

You'll need to do that using a VBA procedure. Your best chance at getting a solution is to post your question in the Excel Programming / VBA / Macros forum.

    Good luck!

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

I am not sure what you mean by a VBA procedure as I usually don't use excel that much.

You said you want to use a formula to do this:

Formulas can not do that. A formula can only return a value to the cell that the formula is entered in.

VBA is the programming language Visual Basic for Applications.

You can do what you want using a VBA procedure. There is a forum specifically for questions related to VBA programming so that would be the best place to ask for help about your task.
