I have an excel document that has a long list of industry codes and their corresponding industries. For example 7542 is car washes. How do I write a formula so that when someone types 7542 into a cell it will automatically show in the cell next to it "Car Washes" and if they were to type a different industry code from the list it would display that industry and so on. Attached is what the list looks like. Thank you very much!
Because your Industry codes are numbers that start with 0, you will need to format your "entry" cell to "text".
Once you have done that, If you enter the industry code into, for example, D4, the following formula should work:Formula:
