conditional formatting high numbers within text/numerical range

Hello, I would like to conditionally format from the following range:
    65
    12*
    abc
    43
    55*
    150

I would like any number over 50 to be formatted one colour (this would be 50* and 150 from the range - the asterisk is an asterisk and not a wild card)
I would also like the abc text to be formatted another colour.

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated, thanks

    Hello

I would like any number over 50 to be formatted one colour (this would be 50* and 150 from the range - the asterisk is an asterisk and not a wild card)
There's a 55* and a 65 in there, so I assume these are to be formatted one colour along with the 150 and any text not a number, followed by an asterisk another colour. If so, try the following conditional formatting formulas:

for the numbers with asterisk and for the text:

*note A3 is where I start the range.

    Hope this helps.

hello, thanks for the reply and apologies for my error; this is what i was trying to achieve....
as you so rightly point out there is a 65 which like the 55* and the 150 need to be formatted (say in red).... All numbers below 50 whether asterisked or not would not be formatted (no colour).... the abc text in the range would be formatted, but a different colour (say blue)

    Hello Mike

Yes, the above Conditional Formatting formulas applied to your range should do as you require. Have you used Conditional Formatting formulas before?
