Post Is there a way to allow for Expanding Groups on a protected sheet

Hi Folks,..Just wanted to check if there is a work around or a setting to be able to expand Groups after protecting a sheet. Just to elaborate - I would want to share an excel file whose contents need to be protected but users need to be afforded an opportunity to view certain details which i have grouped, which can be expanded or collapses as required to view details. I have read through the contents which shows up while protecting a sheet and didn't find anything which said, Allow for collapsing/expanding groups and hence thought would seek some counsel on if there is a better way of doing it.

    Hi

You can do this quite easily using code.

Go to google and put in the following search string
    protect sheet allow grouping site:excelforum.com

This will bring back a heap of entries from this site showing how to code a solution.

HI Rylo,..Thanks for your reply. I went through some responses and found that some coding is required to accomplish my ask. Could i pls check though whether there is a simpler way given that iamn't coding savvy and would like to know whether there is something i could do without having to initiate a VBA.

    Hi

From what I can see, code is the only way to do this.
