Hi,
I have dates in the 41150 type format and when I go into Format Cells and try to change them to a normal looking date (eg. 09-Mar-2012) they dont change.
How can I change these to proper dates?
Thanks very much
Dave

Hello Dave,
That sometimes indicates that you have the "show formulas" option set - do you have formulas in that sheet too?
If you have that option you can toggle it by using the shortcut CTRL+` or try through Tools > Options

Hi
all dates in excel are actually 5-digit number - representing how that many days away from 1/1/1900.
So if you format a value like 41150 as a date, it will give you 8/29/2012. If it doesnt, then it is probably not a number, but text that looks like a number - test with =isnumber(cell-ref)...FALSE means text
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
