Finding the Maximum Row based on a non duplicate rule

hi Beat. why should the eg return 2? row 2 & 3 meets your criteria, dont they? so when you want to return 2, is it the 2nd name from the list? or is it a typo & should be 3 instead?

this will give you 2:

=MAX((MATCH($A$2:$A$10,$A$2:$A$10,0)=ROW($A$2:$A$10)-ROW($A$2)+1)*($B$2:$B$10=F2)*($C$2:$C$10=H2)*(ROW($A$2:$A$10)-ROW($A$2)+1))

this will give you 3:

=MAX((MATCH($A$1:$A$10,$A$1:$A$10,0)=ROW($A$1:$A$10))*($B$1:$B$10=F2)*($C$1:$C$10=H2)*(ROW($A$1:$A$10)))

both array formulas....confirmed by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to activate the array. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer. Press F2 on that cell and try again.
