Removing certain characters (text and numbers) from multiple rows at once

    Hello All,
I have a spreadsheet that I export from another program for my inventory part numbers. When the part number comes in to Excel, it also comes in with a description in the same cell.

    Example:
    7001456 (15A GFCI, white)
    4563289WL (Double bowl kitchen sink)
    123456F (Test item)

I need a formula that will just delete (or replace) everything after the last character in the item number (basically at the space between the last character and the "(" ). Is this possible with Excel?

I create another column next to this one for barcodes and then do a mail merge so I can't have the whole description with the part number. Ironically, the cell to the right of the part number has the exact same description, less the number!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated ;-)

    -Brian

Here is an example of the sheet I am working with... I would like to have just the part number in the column to the left (A column). I am not familiar with the formula that you responded with (that is why I ask you smart guys/gals!). If I simply copy and paste I do get an error, which I expect because you haven't seen the sheet i'm working on ;-)

What should I modify to ensure that it works on the attached sheet?

    Thank you again

Nevermind, I am an idiot. I changed the A1 to B3 - works like a charm! Thanks a bundle!
