    Matrix Linear Regression in Excel - help!

    Hi guys,

    I've tried everything now. I can't seem to make it work with the different functions for matrix algebra in Excel (MMULT etc...) to work out a linear regression between these two matrices:

    Matrix A:
    1 20
    1 20
    1 30

    Matrix Y:
    7
    5
    5

    Can anybody help me out how to make a linear regression on these two matrices using excel matrix calculation?

    Can you specify what you have tried and how it failed? Did you get error values? Incorrect or unexpected values? Does that algorithm work for other data sets, and fails for this data set only? Are you certain there is a solution for this specific problem? I observe that the first column of A is all 1's, perhaps the matrix does not have an inverse.
