Help with football league tables, need to add 2 tables together!

    Hi,

I've seen some great threads on here about football league tables but nothing that really solves my problem so I figured I'd create a post and upload my file.

My friends and me play football twice a week, this involves a captain being selected, they then pick teams, so each week the teams are different and the people who come can vary as well, some players we only have on a monday and some only on a thursday. Depending on which team you are, each week we give 3 points for being on the winning team, 1 point if its a draw and 0 if you're on the losing team, as well as clocking the goals for and against, so the number of games someone has played can even differ.

Now we have a table for monday and thursday, however, I'd like to add up both tables into one table without having to do it manually every week, as we already manually add to the monday and thursday table so it would save hassle then adding and sorting into a new overall league, its already a bit of a struggle. Does anyone know what I would have to do? On the file I have made a new table and it is blank, I've not used excel in a while and I'm thinking I need some form of Vlookup in conjunction with something else.

Thank you in advance from all my team to anyone who can help.

See attached. Is this what you mean?

Just to note, your profile detail shows you using Excel 2003 but the file you attached was Excel 2007 or later.
The formula I've used includes an =IFERROR() which will not work if you are using 2003 or earlier.

Thanks! Thats beautiful, I'll set the thread to SOLVED now.

I didn't realise that I set it as excel 2003 but this version is better as everyone on the team can open it as they all have different versions.

WOW that was fast, can't thank you enough!

One quick thing I noticed, I just arranged by points, but it doesn't adjust the positioning if the players have the same number of points, so Jason and Kia have 12 points each, but, jason ranked higher than Kia but has a poorer GD(goal difference), is there any way to adjust for this?

This last thing would just make it perfect, Thanks again.

    Hi,

Glad I was able to provide a solution for you.

As for your new problem, sort that table by the goal difference column and then by the total points column and it should sort that out for you.
