Formula to split last name before comman and all names after comma into separate cells

I have a mailing list with last name, first name & other names in cell A1. Need to split everything before comma and everything after comma into 2 different cells. Thanks.

    Shane,

You can use the "Convert Text to Columns" wizard under the "Data" heading.

Step 1 - Select Delimited (click Next)
Step 2 - Select the Comma Delimiter (click Next)
Step 3 - Select General data format (click Finish)

    that should do it!

Excel 2007 => data => text to column => use comma (,) as separator.
Notice my main language is not English.

You can use Data | Text to columns to do this.

Alternatively, you can put this formula in B1:

    =LEFT(A1,FIND(",",A1)-1)

    and this in C1:

    =TRIM(RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-FIND(",",A1)))

and then copy these down as far as you need to.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete
