    Dear Excel Forum members,
i need some help in framing a formula or condition so as to get current year '2013' appended to the day and month as i type in the entire column of a sheet.
eg: if i type 12Mar---- i shoul get it as 12-Mar-2013 or 12.Mar.2013.

    Thanks in adv.

    Hi domnic

Format the cells you want to apply the condition either before or after. In Excel 2007 select the cell/cells/entire row/column. CTRL + 1 to bring up the Format Cells dialogue box, or the Home tab > Cells > Format (click the down arrow) > Format cells > Number > Custom > Then in the Type box, change to dd-mmm-yyy > OK. When you enter your date in the cell enter as 12/3, 12-3, 12-mar etc.
    Regards Kevin

    Domnic.
Type 12/3 and Excel will automatically read that as a date in the current year i.e. 12/03/2013
