    percentage of swim time

I am looking for a formula that will give me a percentage of a race time, i.e. 17min 49 sec 11 hundredths, if this was entered in cell A1 as 17:49.11
how could i get a return that is 65% of the entered time in cell A5

This has been driving me mad for days, I've searched and searched without success

    Re: percentage of swim time

    Have you tried... =A1*0.65

re-post: If the time is written properly, it is simply a number (less than 1, where 1 = 1 day) formatted to look like a time...

So since its a number, you can simply multiply it by any other number (*0.65) and it will return another number which you should format to look like a time again... hope that makes sense...

Let us know if this is not what you are looking for...

    Hi Dave,

Glad djapigo got you sorted. Could you please mark this thread as "Solved", as (judging from your post above) it seems to be? Thanks, and you have a great 2013 too
    Brendan.
