    EXCEL Formula

I am looking for a little assistance with excel. I have a spreadsheet and in cell A1 I have a figure of 420.00 in cell A3 I want to know what 5% is of that
amount. Now that 420.00 will change every week in the next cell. So this week it in A1 it's 420*5% and next week in B1 it's 305.30*5%. Now how do I write the forumla for that in excel....

    Hi jonespr

    420*.05

    If you want the gross = 420 * (1+0.05)

If the data is going in A1, B1, C1, .....

    then in A3 enter:

    =.05 * A1 and copy across

    Re: EXCEL Formula

This is what I am trying to do....Take the $456.98 I want to know what is 5%of A1. This amount should be in B1. So A2 amount should show what 5% is of this in B2. C1 and C2 will be for the actual amount taken out so I am just trying to ensure the correct amount out.

    12/05/12 (A1)$456.98 (B1)1527% (C1)$23.15 (D1)-$8,836.85
    (A2)$305.30
