#VALUE problem when using =MINVERSE....can't figure it out

I'm trying to calculate a simple inverse of a matrix, but when I highlight and do =MINVERSE(A1:B3)...shift+ctrl+enter the output goves the #VALUE error. Now, I've done this command/formula with other matrices in the same file the night before and no problems. I cant figure out for the life of me what changed or why it's not calculating.

    Any input would be helpful.

Did you make sure your cell matrix and target cell ranges are the same size?

if matrix is A1:B2 (four cells) then target range must be, for example: D1:E2.
Thus you would select D1:E2, enter the formula =MINVERSE(A1:B2) and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys.

    Do you know . . . ?

yup. could it be that something went wrong with the spreadsheet itself as in the file got corrupted? I mean it worked the day before, and now if i do one cell on =MINVERSE it works, but when i do an actual matrix it doesn't.

    =MINVERSE(A1:B3)
    Only square matrices are invertible.

The cells I used were for an example, not the actual matrix. But that's what it was...I just tried with a square part of that same matrix and it worked. Didn't clue in I guess. Thanks a bunch, it was driving me nuts.
