Combining If Statement, Is Blank Statement and HLookUp

I need to write a formula that tests for (Solution)

    Name Last Name Solution

Kim Johnson If "Name" column is blank return a 1, of it has text 0.
    Smith

I know I need to use the following formulas (if, isblank and hlookup), but am having trouble writing it.

    Thank you.

you don't need hlookup... just a simple If statement:

    =IF(ISBLANK(A1),1,0)

Where A1 is the cell with the name in it.
