ranking with consideration to two different values

    Hi,

I am a newbie here. would like to ask for your help.
I am currently preparing the data for warehouse slotting
and one of the requirement is to rank each item product according
to velocity and weight. The slotting should be that all fast moving and
heaviest weight skus should be placed at the shelves A and B, slow moving
and light weights at shelves C and D.
can i get the ranks of both by just getting the average rank by velocity and weight?

    thanks!

Re: ranking with consideration to two different values

What I would do is to multiply the velocity by weight for each item, and then rank them according to the result.
If you want to know how to do this, upload a sample sheet, and we would help you out.

    Hi mpattauti,

Here is your sample file with the solution put in...sample ranking.xlsx

I've added a helper column, where I take the product of Usage and Weight. I've then used the Rank formula on the helper column.
