    Combine both IF and LOOKUP

Hi, new user here. I just started researching how to use the IF and LOOKUP function this morning, so if this is a basic lesson...my apologies :P

I've been searching back and forth between forums for a specific answer to my specific problem. I feel that I am close to my answer, but still come up with a solution. Here's my problem:

I would like to do a LOOKUP search based off of two different selections off of a drop down list. I have the LOOKUP formula done right, and I've tried something along the lines of =IF(F26="STC",[LOOKUP(...STC value)],[LOOKUP(...NOCT value)]). Obviously this doesn't work, but am I right for trying?

If a little bit of a background story helps, I have two different table values that I need to LOOKUP. This LOOKUP is based off of one of two test condition values found in a drop down box (STC or NOCT). I have a feeling that an IF formula may be the wrong way of going about this.

    Thanks!
