Variable Discount

Hello all, first want to say that this forum has helped me so much in the past, however I did a search and could not find the answer to my question. I have a price list that I would like to discount depending on the list price. Example if the list price is between 1.00 to 400.00 i would want a discount of 8%. From 401 to 1,000 a discount of 10%, etc... Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: Variable Discount

this is fairly easy to do. set up a table with your discount rates in it, then use a vlookup to find then then apply the rate to your price.

if you have a problem setting this up, upload a sample workbook and i will walk you through it

To Attach a File:

1. Click on Go Advanced
2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
3. Click the button.
4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
6. This will open a new window File Upload.
7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
10. Close the window and then click Submit.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Re: Variable Discount

Thank you so much for the quick replies. The first reply would be easier for me to use, since I am not an advanced user. However I still need a little help with that formula. When I ran it, it returns the proper desired discount expressed as a % (8%, 10%, 12%), but what would then be the formula to deduct that specific discount from original listed price. For example, if the list price is $500, I would like the returned value to be $450 and not 10%.

Re: Variable Discount

=A1-(A1*LOOKUP(A1,{0,401,1001},{"8%","10%","12%"}))
