Change color of entire rows if a value is entered in a cell in column I

First of all, let me say that I am very new to Excel (other than just typing stuff into the spreadsheet). That being said, please be gentle and speak as if talking to a child, lol.

I have a spread sheet that I am trying to manipulate. What I am trying to do is to get all rows that have a value entered into column "I" to turn red. Thanks for any help you can provide

so click right button of mouse on the name of your sheet and select view code and paste this code in the window which appeared

Target.EntireRow.Interior.ColorIndex = 3

Thanks, Tom. However, it doesnt give me the option of choosing view code. I am assuming because there is none to view.

try to press ALT + F11 then find in the left window name of sheet in which this macro should works and double-click this sheet. after this paste the code into widow which appear

I tried exactly what you said but nothing happened. The code is written and in the proper place but none of the rows with a value entered into column "I" turned red. Basically, what I am trying to do is if a date is entered into column "I" then that means that task is complete and I want the whole row to turn red so I know to bypass that row (meaning it is complete and no longer needs my attention).

Disregard my last reply. It worked beautifully, Tom. It just didn't do it with data that was already entered in the spreadsheet but as soon as I added something to another row, it worked!

Hi, I have exactly the same need but have tried this and it doesn't work for me. How does it know what coloum I enter my date in? Please help.
