Excel formula to return multiple values against a single entry

    Dear All,

I am new to this forum and hence its possible that my question is repetitive. I have a list of customers which have presence in multiple districts. Against this customer list, I need to pull up all the districts they reside in. Eg:

    Column A Column B Column C Column D

Company XYZ District 1 District 2 District 3

Can anybody please guide how this can be done? Is it a combination of countifs and index?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    F

    Hi,

Your post isn't clear and we don't know the format of your list. Please upload your workbook.

It may be that a simple Filter will work for you but unless we have the file it's difficult to comment further.

Re: Excel formula to return multiple values against a single entry

Its just a place holder as an example. So depending on whether the company has a presence in that district or not, it may be blank or have a value.

    Hope this helps

Re: Excel formula to return multiple values against a single entry

    Hi Farooq,

Use below formula and drag it down/right ..

    Formula: copy to clipboard
    {=IFERROR(INDEX($B$4:$B$11,SMALL(IF($A$4:$A$11=$A21,ROW($B$4:$B$11)-3,""),COLUMN(A$1)),1),"")}

    See attached:-Book5.xlsx

Re: Excel formula to return multiple values against a single entry

    Works like a charm :-)

Got a small question though...what is the significance of referencing the first cell in each column COLUMN(A$1) - i noticed it changes...

Re: Excel formula to return multiple values against a single entry

    Column A1 fetches 1..
    column B2 fetches 2..

so basically it is fetching 1,2,3.. etc when you move towards right
