    Changing text colors using formulas

    Hi,

I have one chart with 2011's monthly sales figures, claims, complaints etc. and one chart with 2012's monthly sales figures, claims, complaints etc. What I want to do is compare these figures and if the 2012 figures are higher than 2011, they turn green, if lower turn red. If I use conditional formatting I can't drag that "formatting" to all of the other cells, right and down, I have to enter that format manually to each one. So what can I do so that I don't have to do that?

    Thank you!

    Hi
if you want to change the numbers in the worksheet, you can use conditional formatting. If you want to change them in the chart, I think you will have to use a macro. Which numbers are you actually trying to change, is it data labels in the chart?

I'm trying to change the numbers, the data, that are produced by formulas in combination with other sheets.

Hmm actually, the numbers are not formulas. They're just normal numbers manually inputted.

You should be able to copy the conditional formatting to all cells in an area

or, select the range you want to format, enter the conditional format for the first cell and it will apply the format to the other cells automatically (make sure your formula is expressed with relative not absolute references ie A1 > B1 not $A$1 > B1)

It works for me but not for my collegue, which is why I wondered if there was some work-around. Guess we'll just stick to my computer, haha.

    Thank you!
