I am using Excel 2010. I have created a custom list and would like to sort on it. I select it in the sort box, but it does not sort on this list. It sorts it alphabetically. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Maybe a small example sheet would help?
Here's a sample file. I made a small table of the data I'm working with. This time the sort order was not alphabetical. But this sample was only a one level sort. For all my data I performed a 3 level sort, using the custom list as the 2nd level. Thanks for trying to help.
i sorted it on city and on country, both times it sorted perfectly. you shouldnt need to, but did yoou highlight the table 1st and then sort?

I guess I should give you all the information.
I want to sort on EPA class in this order: Major, SM opt out, SM R208a, minor
I created a custom list, but it would not sort in that order.
if your custom list is "NEW LIST", it does not contain any data (at least, in the file you posted)
