Conditional Format based on Number of Characters in a cell

    Hey,

Does anyone know if it is possible to do a conditional format whereby it highlights a cell if it exceeds a certain character limit (including spaces)? I'm trying to work on one that will highlight any cells that exceed 240 characters.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

If you are including spaces as character. Conditional formatting> Use Formula =LEN(A1)>=240
    Does that work for you?

hi Shadefalcon. assuming your data is in A1:A10, highlight them & go to Home -> Conditional Formatting -> New Rule -> Use a formula to determine which cells to format -> Format values where this formula is true:
    =LEN(A1)>240

I tried it, but it didn't seem to work for everything. Do commas throw it off?

Wait, nevermind, I figured it out. Had to change A1 to D1 because the column I was working on was D. My bad. Thanks guys.
