Due Date Warning

Hi Everyone, I have searched the forum but can't find what I am looking for. I can use excel at a basic level but need to develop my skills more. I think my request is very simple so here goes. I have a columm that has a title of Due Date and in that same column below I am entering different dates as a reminder to do a certain task. What I would like is that the cell with whatever date is in it turns to yellow 2days prior to the due date and then red as soon as it is overdue. In addition, would I be expecting too much if an automatic email is sent to me as soon as the yellow alert is reached? Can this be done and if so can someone help me? Thanks in advance...

Hi jeversf. Firstly thank you very much for your help and secondly apologies for not acknowledging your response sooner. Problems with internet access. I think it might be the perfect solution what you posted, however, I do have very basic knowledge and I can't access any further data and can only see a red cell. Is there a script or formula in that cell or something that you could explain to me how you did this? Many thanks!
