Is it possible to use a font color as true value or false value in an "if" formula???

You can use "Conditional formatting", to change the font of a cell the value it displays. Perhaps that is what you need to do?

Thank you Soren. Conditional formatting works perfectly for a single cell. I was hoping to use same inputs in a formula which could be replicated over a large spread sheet. I have 12 columns of 20+ values which should fall between allowable limits. It would be nice to highlight the highs and lows in different colors. Otherwise it's just a hodgepodge of data to analyze cell by cell.

You can copy the conditional formatting of one cell to all your other cells in one go. Or am I missing the point?

Re: Using font color in formulas

Perhaps I am missing a point. When I try to copy the conditional format to other cells, I get the value of the original cell used to set the format.

Any other ideas gratefully accepted. Thanks again, Soren.

You can use "Paste special" and then choose "Validation"; then only the validation is pasted and not the contents. You can also select all the cells that you want to conditionally format, and then create the conditional formatting.
