2010: random length strings in cell - need to split

    Hi,
I thought I was a seasoned excel user until I joined the forum! I have a challenge. A series of alphanumeric strings are in a sheet. The first 6 digits are numeric e.g. 123456. The remaining characters - ranging from XX to XXXXXX in length are alpha. The string ends in a '-07' or a number of differing two digit numerals.
    Here is an example:

    382831NAVR03-10
    382831NAVR03-25
    382831PAC01-10
    382831PAC01-25
    382831PAC02-10
    382831VOL01-10

I need to be able to split out into separate columns.

For example... 382831NAVR03-10 would become |382|831|NAVR|03|10|, and 382831VOL01-10 would become |382|831|VOL|01|10|

I'm stumped. The text to column feature under Data does not meet my needs resulting in corrupted information.

Can someone please shed some light on this conundrum. Greatly appreciate any and all help.

    Many thanks

    David Hipwood
