You could use a custom number formatting such as
#,##0;#,##0
StephenR - thanks for your reply.
I am being thick and I apologise but I tried that and it keeps the minus, because it's in a formula - it just automatically puts the minus.
That shouldn't matter. What's the formula?
YES, fantastic, just used =abs....
Thank you Stephen, I now know where to come when I have Excel questions
Hope you have a lovely day and weekend.
I have a simple formula = d1-d5 and the answer is in d7, but it is returning -1, I need it to say 1.
There is a method behind the madness. Most of the figures are all fine but two are coming up as a minus but I do not want the minus as I just need to say if we have 1 compliment either way. The worksheet is really to see if we have a zero.
I hope that makes sense, I really appreciate your help as I am completely stuck!!
If you right-click on the cell, click Format Cells, in the Number tab, click on Custom at the bottom and paste my earlier text into the Type box, it should work. This only changes the displayed value, not the actual value. If you want to change the latter you need to change the formula
=ABS(D1-D5)
