skipping a cell in a sum array formula

i have a spreadsheet (see attatched) where i need the total of six consecutive cells (monday through saturday payments out) in a colum (column B Payments out), then to skip the seventh, and then go on to add the next six for a new total, skip the seventh, and so on and so fourth..

i have asked around this forum a few times and people have been very helpful in trying to create formulas for me but they arent working properly because there is a value problem apparently. The answer seems to lie in a sum array formula which is linked to the dates (is that right?)

can someone please EXPLAIN how i write the phrase in my formula which skips the seventh cell and not just write one out for me. As much as i appreciate the help, i reckon i could fix this myself if i knew what to write..

give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, give a man a fishing net and he'll eat for ever....and alll of that stuff eh?

So, you're looking at the problem in the wrong way. Ask yourself: "when do you NOT want to include a number in the sum", and then use =SUMIF(). Let me know if you need additional help...

If you're attempting to sum a column of numbers and avoid summing the subtotals, then you might avoid the need for complex arrays by using the SUBTOTAL function.
