Extract letters before first number

Hello,

In B3 I have A120922C00023000

I would like I3 to pull out all letters before the first number ("A", in this example). However, the number of letters before the first number varies in each row. For example, the next time it could be GRNA120922C0023000, and I want I3 to say "GRNA."

Any help on resolving this is greatly appreciated.

Try this formula in I3

=LEFT(B3,MIN(FIND({1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0},B3&1234567890))-1)

Hi.

If the first number is always 1, the following will work:
=LEFT(A3,FIND("1",A3)-1)

Otherwise, someone else will have to answer, as I can't think of a generic formula that would do this.
