    Index, match

    Hi all,
I have taken over a task that looked simple, but needs to be performed without mistakes, hence a formula, and not manual input.
Our training matrix needs to be updated to include all procedures, so I am in the process of trying to copy the procedures already trained from the old matrix, to the new individual matrix:

Lookup Employee from New! C1 in old! B6:B1000
index new!A6 with old! D4:BAM4 - and show number in new! Column C where applicable
It is important to return the input in the cell found, as the numbers 0-4, and letters R and F are used as training criteria

I basically need to transfer all training records over to individual files

    Thank You for any help.

    Re: Index, match

    Hi NBVC,
I have placed the formula in sheet "new" in cell C6. It should have given me a result of 2, but was blank. I looked the formula over, and I must admit, it's a heck of a formula, and from what I could see, it seemes to call up all the correct references. If you used the attached sample, have you gotten a different result? If so, would you please repost the sample attachment back, so I can see what I am doing wrong?

    Much appreciated
    Thank You

Forgot to mention that the name in C1 must match the names in column B of first sheet... so take out everything after Joel in C1.
