    Autofill table row colors

    Good afternoon all!

    Stupid question that I know can be done but can't remember how to do this.

    I have a table and will add rows to it as needed. What I want to do is have that row change colors as soon as text/number is put in the first column. There are 6 columns to the table and I want each row to alternate colors from lets say red and blue, but without doing conditional formatting for each line individually.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Clint

    hi Clint. select your table, eg A1:F10, & press CTRL + T to convert it to a Table. you can then change the colours through Home -> Format as Table

    does that help?

    Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

    Re: Autofill table row colors

    Thank you for your reply.

    It does, however, I only want it to sill in the color for the row once something is filled in the rist column of that row. and once it is removed, I want it to remove the color, which this way does not bcz even though I have deleted the content, the table has expanded itself by another row. I am feeling that conditional statements are my only way which slows down the load time if I have 600 conditional statements per page.

    Any other ideas? what a bout a macro?

    Thanks,

    Clint

    not sure if this is what you need. used a table still, so that the conditional formatting continues as i fill in another row. used 2 conditional formatting formulas only. 1 is for red:
    =AND($A2<>"",MOD(ROW(),2)=0)

    the other is for blue:
    =AND($A2<>"",MOD(ROW(),2)=1)

    it will only turn change colour when column A is filled. can only help till here. macro is not under my expertise.
    =)

    My apologies. I was unaware of how to mark a thread as solved.
