Taking mmm dd yyyy and putting them in order

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm an extreme beginner with excel.

I have a row of dates in mmm dd yyyy format (like Aug 12 2011) and need to put these in order somehow. The dates begin in cell C2 and go down to C288.

    Thank you in advance.

    Have you tried sorting them?

Yes, I've been wading through several pages of google searches trying to figure it out. This was the closest I could find but I'm still having issues given my inexperience with the program.

Re: Taking mmm dd yyyy and putting them in order

I did try that but unfortunately all the years are different (ie there's 1997-2012), so the sorting only sorted them according to the months. I also failed to mention that I have names in column B and a set of birth dates in column D. I feel like when I'm sorting the dates in column C everything is gets mix-matched with the other columns. Is there anyway to guard against this?

Summary: Have Names in Column B, Dates in column C, Birth dates in column D. And I just want to sort them according to the dates in column C (C2 thru C288).

I think you'd better upload your workbook so that we can see the request in context.
Are you sure your dates are all proper date numbers - whatever the format is showing you?
