    25/01/2012 how to change this date

    I'm new to excel and I am trying to covert a list of dates that are in the below form:
    25/01/2012
    day-month-year

    I want to change or convert to month/day/year. how can I do this? I tried converting into a date or text to then convert to a date and I was unable to. please help!

    i used this formula in I4. the "dates" you have are actually text, not values, so the formula converts them to date values....

    =DATE(RIGHT(A4,4),MID(A4,4,2),LEFT(A4,2))

    copy this down. you can then copy/paste values if you want, and then replace your original "dates"

    Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED.
