    VLOOKUP Error Message

I am trying to merge two spreadsheets based on a common field using Vlookup. However, I continue to get the same error message #N/A. I know that some of the not all of the numbers in the common field correspond, so it makes sense that I would be getting some #N/As, but it is doing this for all of them.

    Here is my formula:
    =VLOOKUP(A2, Sheet1!$A$1:$B$9576, 2, FALSE)

What can I do to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Re: VLOOKUP Error Message

either A2 or column A in Sheet1 have numbers that are formatted as text....

Select A2 and any others in column A of current sheet, and go to Data|Text to Columns and click Finish.

If not yet fixed, do the same in Sheet1, column A.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Re: VLOOKUP Error Message

Thank you so much!! It worked. One was formatted as text, while the other was a number.

    @ ags

Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.
