Finding and Matching outstanding checks

I have two tabs in excel. One has the check register and the other one has the cleared checks per the downloaded bank statement. I am trying to match the check number as well as the amout of the two tabs so as to come up with the outstanding checks. Does anyone the simplest and fast way of doing this if you are dealing with large volumes of Data. Thanks

Perhaps...vlookup the check number across the range of cleared checks and amounts in the bank statement.

Alternatively, use the INDEX & MATCH function
