    Count consecutely function

Hi there I need help with a formula in Excel. I need to return a number i.e. 1, when a value occurs more than once within a range (row), but not consecutely e.g. If I have a value in column 1, 2 and 3 that would be fine, but as soon as I have a value in column 1, nothing in 2, and a value again in column 3, I need to know about it. Any ideas?
