    Vlookup Macro

    Hi,

I need a macro which does the work of vlookup. I have 2 workbooks. Workbook 1 contains all the required data from where data has to be pulled & workbook 2 is where I have to pull the data.

I have attached the sample workbooks. The actual file which I have contains lot of data & hence recording a macro is not a feasible option. Please help in providing a macro for vlookup.

    Thank you

Why not use Vlookup? Excel functions are faster than vba

There are lot of other data & formulae in the workbook2 making it very heavy. Adding vlookup formulae to it is making the file very heavy & the file crashes. Hence I need a macro which I can run that does the job of vlookup

    Re: Vlookup Macro

I would start by setting the calculation to manual.

Secondly you only need to do the calculation once, you can then copy and paste special values over the results to prevent further calculation.

Are you sure that Excel has actually crashed and not just calculating for a long time? Might be worth just leaving it, putting the kettle on and coming back to it later

If you have that much data, a macro is likely to be very slow

Currently I am using the file with vlookup formulae. At times it opens & many a times it does not open with excel not responding. Hence wanted to try vlookup with macros.
