    Pasting Relative Formula Displays Incorrectly

    Hi,

I haven't been able to find this problem using search, probably because I'm having a hard time describing the function that I've accidentally enabled. Here is the problem I am having:

I have a column A and column B. I use =A1 to populate column B so that A1 equals B1. When I drag cell B1 down to B2, B3, etc., I expect that cells B2, B3, etc. will display whatever is displayed in their corresponding A cell. The formula in the formula toolbar is correct for each row (i.e., B2 says =A2, B3 says =A3), however the value in the cell is actually the first entry in B1. I was using my spreadsheet fine and must have accidentally turned this on because it changed while I was in the middle of my work and is now happening on all my spreadsheets. I've attached a picture if that helps. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Have you turned off auto-calculation? Try pressing F9 to recalculate and see if the values change.

    That did it, thanks!

F9 fixed the highlighted cells, but I went into Excel settings to turn automatic calculation back on.

    Thanks again.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
    Hope that helps.
