Selecting Data from one table to another between dates

    Hey guys,

I have a question that hopefully you could help with, I have searched everywhere and found similar threads but they don't quite take in what I am trying to accomplish.

I have a large table with 31 columns and about 1500 rows. I constantly input data into this table. Now in another sheet I have a table that with some key columns that match by name some of those on the large table, what I want is to input two dates and an employee name in separate cells above the table for the table to be filled with all entries that match that criteria. I have been so involved with this that I don't fully know if I am explaining this right, let me know if I can clarify anything.

    Thanks in advance

It sounds to me like you should give DGet or DSum a try. Here's an example of how that might work for you.

Another option would be to use a combination of the INDEX and MATCH functions. If you're still not able to get to the answer, try posting at least a segment of the workbook (need a portion of both tabs).

I can see right away from the sample you sent that it's exactly what i'm looking for. I will give this a try and if I have any questions will let you know, maybe you'd be able to clarify them. I appreciate your help.
    Thanks

    Sorry,

I took a look at it but some of the hidden columns through me off guard and not sure how to go about it anymore. I have attached a sample to try and explain better what I am looking for.
Keep in Mind that the original list keeps growing while the summary list on sheet 2 has a fixed amount of rows.
    Thanks in advance

Please update your example workbook and show us a FULLY comprehensive example of the results. You should show an example of your inputs and the table results, mock it up manually.

Also, make sure your sample isn't too simple. Dates are a tricky critter, we need to see how you expect the results to appear when the dates inputted do not exactly match the dates in the database.

Could you use a pivot table to get what you need? I've attached another example. This example does require adding a column to your core data that contains a formula.

Re: Selecting Data from one table to another between dates

Greg- There might be a way to incorporate this data with a pivot table but it is probably going to change to much of the layout. The attached tables in the sheets are naturally surrounded by other tables and graphs so a pivot table would cause changes to that along with changes to the original list that I don't want to change unless there is no other way. Attached is an updated version of the sheet that I had with some manually typed inputs into the results table in sheet 2.

    Thanks

Hi JR...it looks like either we both missed our last attachments or maybe there is a site-wide issue. I'll see if i can find the pivot table example I worked on, but I don't usually keep them Could you also edit your last post and upload the updated version? Thanks!

Re: Selecting Data from one table to another between dates

I added some fun drop downs, too, the dates will fit themselves based on the dates on the first sheet. Addition of a key column to data keeps this simple and peppy.
