Excel 2010 ActiveX Control Disabled in Shared Workbook

I just upgraded to Excel 2010 and noticed the following immediately.

When I place an ActiveX control (e.g. a command button) on the worksheet, and then share the workbook, the button does not work any longer (as if it never gets pressed).

The control works fine in the un-shared workbook.

I do not see this behaviour in Excel 2003 or 2007.

Can someone please explain what is happening and a possible solution.

I have many Excel 2003 Workbooks with these controls but the buttons do not work when I bring them into Excel 2010 shared workbook.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Don't. Use. Shared. Workbooks.

They're nothing but trouble, especially when used in connection with VBA.

Excel is not meant to be a multi-user application. If you require that kind of functionality, you are much better off with Access or another database solution.

(I should start counting how often I write this or similar per day. Today at least three times so far)

Hmmm, not exactly the reply I was looking for. I've used shared workbooks for years with little problems.

Its not an option to not use them at this point. This particular feature works fine in 2003 and 2007.
